Thurs 23rd Feb – More work using The Sine Rule

LEARNING
OBJECTIVE: Understand and use the Sine rule

SUCCESS
CRITERIA: You will be able to find lengths and angles of triangles using the sine rule and also apply these techniques to solve problems involving triangles.

STARTER:

  1. A triangle ABC has side AB = 8cm, angle ACB = 74°, and CAB = 59°.

Draw a diagram of this triangle with all given dimensions add to it.

Use sine rule to find the length of BC.

  1. Ship A is 9Km due north of a lighthouse L. Ship B is 11km from Ship A, on a bearing of 072° from the lighthouse

Calculate the bearing of B from A

Draw a diagram of this problem and then use the sine rule to solve it.

LESSON: Use above two examples to revise the sine rule from Mondays lesson.

Have a go at the questions on this worksheet.
